This Memorial Day Weekend will be different than our traditional experience.  With the inability to safely gather as usual at Pulaski Elementary school, this year we are going to send the Grid to you with the first ever “Virtual I Did the Grid”.  Please continue to help us honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country.

How Does It Work?

  1. Register for the race by Clicking Here. Registration is FREE – There is an option to donate money in any amount if you’re able to.
  2. Complete one race entry per person participating (This ensures reception of a racing bib for each participant)
  3. Once registered, you will receive an email with a .pdf race bib that you can wear on race day.  It will contain the names of fallen soldiers that you will be honoring with your efforts, and has an optional place to write in your own personal additional honorees.

Participants who register for this virtual run will be given credit for the I Did the Grid in the Suffolk County Veterans Run Series.

Have Fun! Be Creative! And send pictures to our Team Chris Facebook or Instagram (#ididthegridvirtualrun) pages.

Important: Please continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC, as well as any applicable federal, state or local ones set by officials in your community. Maintain good social distancing and keep yourself, your family and community safe during this time.

Please do not gather at the traditional race site, or on the traditional race course.  As much as we’d love to see all of you out there, we know it would be unsafe.

A Message From the Scherer and Burr Families

This year we will once again be offering our Virtual Grid for free to anyone who would like to participate. This allows you to run/walk in honor of our fallen on Memorial Day Weekend in a safe manner but does not burden those that may be experiencing financial setbacks during these tough times. Therefore, donations are optional and any received will go towards our efforts to award scholarships and sponsor service dogs. It is our hope that you will be able to take part in the Grid to “Honor our Fallen and Support our Troops!”

We so wish that we could all be together to participate in the Grid this year, but this affords you the opportunity to honor our military, and carry the names of fallen heroes with you as you go. Your downloadable bib will have the names of local fallen warriors and a space for you to fill in your own special hero. With 31 turns in the Grid course, there is not another one like it! So, make your course as creative as possible. Have fun with it and if you can, ring a bell or beep your horn at the end of your run/walk for each one of the fallen that you have carried! We hope that you will send pictures to our Team Chris Facebook or Instagram (#ididthegridvirtualrun) pages.

Although we miss the chance to see you all, we will be with you in spirit every step you take as you complete the mission! As always we appreciate your support and look forward to being together again next year! Stay safe!

The Scherer and Burr Families
