To Our Friends and Neighbors:
As many of you already know, our family suffered a great loss when our son Cpl Christopher G. Scherer, USMC, was killed in action in Iraq while serving the country he loved. In order to keep his memory alive, we have started the Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Semper Fi Fund which will sponsor the “Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Scholarship” and the “Cpl Christopher G. Scherer, Leave No Marine Behind Project”. The “Christopher G. Scherer Scholarship” will award three scholarships each year to Northport High School graduating seniors. The “Leave No Marine Behind Project” will provide for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our supporters have come to be known as members of “TEAM CHRIS.” This is a group of people committed to helping us honor Chris’ life as well as supporting the
“Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Semper Fi Fund.” We write in hopes that you too will join “TEAM CHRIS.” There are various ways in which you can help, including monetary donations, collecting or donating supplies to be sent overseas, purchasing Cpl Chris merchandise, and participating or volunteering in our fundraising events, i.e. the “I Did the Grid” Run/Walk, the annual Elijah Churchill’s dinner, the Great Cow Harbor 10K Run, and the Marine Corps Marathon/10K in Washington, D.C..
